Gun Stockpile & Heirlooms: Brandon, Tampa Men Arrested For Florida Keys Trailer Heist

TAMPA, Fla. – Two Tampa Bay area men are behind bars facing high bonds after investigators say they tracked them from the Florida Keys to a storage unit in Tampa, uncovering a haul of stolen firearms and family treasures.

Authorities in Hillsborough County arrested Carlos A. Cortes Pedraza, 53, of Tampa, and Heriberto Ivan Del La Hoz Medina, 36, of Brandon. The pair is accused of stealing a storage trailer packed with approximately $35,000 worth of property from a Key Largo residence.

The investigation began on December 3, 2025, when the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office received a report regarding a missing 2025 TR Extreme storage trailer taken from a property on Tortuga Drive. According to the report, the trailer contained a significant cache of personal property, including household appliances, tools, hunting gear, and clothing.
