TAMPA, Fla. (CBS12) — A firearm that was bought in Florida was recovered at the scene of a Canadian homicide just 32 days later, federal prosecutors revealed as they announced charges against five men accused of trafficking more than 100 guns across the border.
The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) announced on Wednesday that Tyler Corbin, 25, of Tampa; Alfredo Santana, 32, of Miami; and three Canadian men — Edward Noel, 26; Omar Singateth, 24; and Arif Jhuman, 39 — face charges including conspiracy to traffic firearms, trafficking in firearms, and dealing firearms without a license. Corbin also faces a fentanyl distribution charge.
Federal prosecutors say 29 of the trafficked firearms were later tied to Canadian crime scenes, including multiple homicides. One firearm purchased by Corbin was recovered at the scene of a homicide 32 days after Corbin had purchased the firearm. None of the men are licensed to deal firearms…
