Teens help rescue woman as crews battle fire in East Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Tampa Fire Rescue crews battled a structure fire in East Tampa on Tuesday.

Firefighters were called to the 800 block of East Baker Street at 10:30 a.m. Before they got there, two young men, and a fire inspector nearby men were already helping out in a big way.

“No, but I mean, it was pretty fun helping out. It was a cool experience,” said Carnell Barton when asked if after Tuesday he would become a firefighter.

Barton said the flames looked like they were 10 to 15 feet tall. He and his uncle Shakur McCrone were down the street when they started smelling smoke and went to take a look. McCrone called 911, while Barton ran to help a woman in the house next to the fire.
