A nostalgic, ’90s-inspired pizzeria and cocktail bar just opened in Clearwater

If the alumni of Bayside High opened a pizza spot, this is what it would look like. Flipside Pizza just opened at the Courtyard by Marriott Clearwater Hotel (455 E Shore Dr), bringing a wave of ’90s nostalgia with it.

The throwback restaurant and bar will remind millennials of afternoons spent at birthday pizza parties, with arcade games, cheesy ’90s-style pizzas, cushioned booths, and even a confetti-topped bar. Of course, that bar is also one of the main differences. Instead of filling those plastic red cups with every soda from the machine, guests at Flipside can enjoy a full bar program with vacation-inspired cocktails, 22 beers on tap, and a selection of wines.

The full menu includes a tempting list of appetizers, a handful of salads, heaping grinder sandwiches, and a variety of whole pies. While the style of pizza evokes another millennium, the toppings stay fresh. We’re eyeing the Desperado, topped with fire roasted salsa, chorizo, jalapeños, Mexican white cheese blend, avocado ranch, and fresh cilantro…
