The USCG Auxiliary announces monthly safe boating classes at the Dunedin Marina, Harbormasters Building, to help educate boaters of all ages on safe and responsible boating. A one-day Introduction to Basic Navigation course will teach compass use, plotting courses on a nautical chart, and more. The Boat America Safe Boating Course is a two-day course covering essential boating safety skills and Florida boating laws. Upon completion, participants receive a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Safe Boating ID card, good for a lifetime and valid in most states.
Who needs a Safe Boating ID card? People born after January 1, 1988, and operating a motorboat over 10hp are now required to have this certificate. Itβs also a very good refresher course for the more experienced boater or anyone thinking about operating a boat. Many rental places now require a safe boating certificate as well…
