CLEARWATER, Fla. (WFLA) — The teenager who went missing during a kayaking mishap on Jan. 18 has been found dead, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office confirmed that a civilian found the body of Elias Guillermo Lara Vargas on Clearwater Beach at about 7:40 a.m. Tuesday.

Lara Vargas went missing on Jan. 18 when he and Savannah Ozer, 19, were tossed into the waters near Honeymoon Island when waves capsized their kayaks.
Ozer was rescued from the water and taken to a hospital for evaluation, but Vargas would not be found for over a week while the U.S. Coast Guard and local first responders searched for him.
Lara Vargas’ family has been notified of his death. Deputies said the incident did not “”appear suspicious in nature.”…
