Clearwater man blames being released from jail ‘too early’ after stealing $20K in laptops: affidavit

CLEARWATER, Fla. (WFLA) — A 64-year-old man is facing felony charges after being identified as the suspect who stole over $20,000 in computers from an office building in Clearwater last year.

An affidavit from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office accused Roderick Goodson of breaking into and robbing a financial services agency and an accounting firm in June 2025.

Goodson admitted to police that he found an open door at the office building at 600 Cleveland Street and broke into two of the suites inside.

He stole eight laptops from the accounting firm, valued at around $17,199.36, the affidavit said. Goodson stole an additional $5,565 worth of laptops from the financial services agency, putting the total value of stolen goods over $20,000…
