Tampa Sidewalk Dispute Ends In Murder Charge

TAMPA, Fla. – A 24-hour investigation into a fatal morning shooting in Tampa has culminated in an arrest, according to officials with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. Maurice Blackmon, 44, was taken into custody Tuesday evening and now faces a charge of second-degree murder with a firearm.

The incident began early Monday morning when dispatchers received a 911 call at 6:32 a.m. reporting gunfire near the intersection of North Nebraska Avenue and 129th Avenue.

When deputies arrived on the scene, they found 34-year-old Corey Brown suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency crews rushed Brown to a nearby hospital, but doctors were unable to save him…
