Hyde Park’s Haven to close as Bern’s Steak House Group opens new seafood restaurant

One of Tampa’s most iconic restaurant brands has announced a new venture. Bern’s Steak House Group announced that it will be closing Haven in Hyde Park to make way for a yet-to-be-named seafood-focused concept slated for a fall 2027 debut.

Haven (2208 W. Morrison Ave.) will continue operations through the end of the upcoming summer season before closing to make way for the new concept. The seafood restaurant will follow the vision of Executive Chef Chad Johnson, who has spent years bringing together a concept “reflecting the restaurant group’s long-held belief that great hospitality is grounded in continuity and thoughtful evolution.

Bern’s says the unnamed restaurant “will focus on seafood, and build on Chef Johnson’s dedication to culinary discipline, technique, and respect for product. Its launch reflects a natural convergence of timing and opportunity.” The restaurant group said further announcements will be forthcoming.

Haven, a less buttoned-up experience compared to Bern’s, hasn’t received the same headlines as its steakhouse counterpart, but has been a popular destination over the years nonetheless. We’ll be keeping an eye out for announcements on a closing date, but those who loved it, or those who have always meant to go, still have at least a few months to make a visit…
