According to website thesmokinggun.com, the Kentucky man who won a $167.3 million Powerball jackpot last year has reached a plea deal after prosecutors said he kicked a sheriff’s deputy in the face during a chaotic incident at a St. Pete resort where he went to celebrate his newfound wealth.
James Farthing, 50, was initially charged with felony battery on a law enforcement officer in connection with the confrontation at the TradeWinds Resort in St. Pete Beach. Court records show he ultimately pleaded guilty to reduced misdemeanor charges tied to the episode.
Farthing is no stranger to justice. He has spent around 30 years in jail for various crimes involving drugs, tampering with evidence, and receiving stolen property, among other things. Last year, in an interview with Kentucky television station WKYT, Farthing said he was reformed. “I’ve caused a lot of stress on her [my mom], you know, I’ve made some bad decisions in life, and you know, God’s been good because I’ve kept my faith and done right, and something’s happened good for me.”…
