Crews battle 2-alarm junkyard fire in Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Crews are worked to extinguish a 2-alarm fire at a junkyard in Tampa on Tuesday.

The fire started at 5404 24th Avenue South at around 10:45 a.m., according to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue.

The fire sent a large plume of black smoke into the air. When fire crews arrived, they called a second alarm to bring more units to the scene.

The fire was brought under control in about 45 minutes and firefighters protected nearby structures. They remained at the junkyard to put out hot spots…
