Pinellas County Traffic Alert: Major Lane Closures And Nightly Construction Slated For March 22-28

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – Drivers in Pinellas County are facing a gauntlet of orange cones and flashing lights as the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) kicks off an extensive series of roadworks starting March 22, 2026.

The District 7 schedule, which runs through March 28, hits nearly every major artery in the county, ranging from overnight maintenance to long-term bridge projects that will keep lanes restricted for months to come.

The heavy lifting starts Sunday night. Commuters using I-175 between 16th Street S and 4th Street S should prepare for night lane closures from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. through Thursday. Simultaneously, the Sunshine Skyway Bridge will see its own set of night closures, pushing traffic into tighter quarters from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. nightly until Friday. Further north on I-275, the stretch from 38th Avenue North to Roosevelt Boulevard will also see lane reductions between 8:30 p.m. and 6 a.m…
