TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A Tampa woman known as the “candy lady” was sentenced to 60 years in prison Tuesday after being convicted on fentanyl trafficking charges.
Renee Stephens earned her nickname due to the fact that she was selling drug-infused candy to children in her neighborhood, investigators with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement said following her arrest in December 2023.

Detectives began conducting an undercover operation in August 2023 after receiving a tip about Stephens’ drug trafficking activities. She sold a total of 58 grams of fentanyl to undercover agents over the course of three months.
