MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — The man seen on video holding another driver at gunpoint in the middle of I-275 made his first appearance before a judge Thursday.
The Florida Highway Patrol released video of the incident this week which was captured seconds after 50-year-old Gary Thompson sideswiped a vehicle driven by 55-year-old Paul Shannon of Dunedin. It happened on I-275 in Manatee County near the Sunshine Skyway South rest stop.

According to troopers, both drivers stopped and exited their vehicles after the collision. At that point, Shannon pulled a gun and demanded Thompson get on the ground. Troopers said he held him at gunpoint until law enforcement arrived on scene.
Thompson was arrested for driving under the influence, according to authorities. Shannon was taken into custody for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon…
