USF double murder suspect denied bond as victim’s remains found and death penalty looms

TAMPA, Fla. (CBS12) — A judge on Tuesday denied bond for a man accused of murdering two University of South Florida doctoral students, a case that has shaken the academic community and raised troubling questions about how the victims were placed in harm’s way.

Twenty-six-year-old Hisham Abugharbieh faces multiple charges, including two counts of first-degree murder, in the deaths of Zamil Limon and Limon’s friend, Nahida Bristy. The bond hearing was held in Hillsborough County, though Abugharbieh did not appear in court.

Authorities allege Abugharbieh killed Limon, his roommate, as well as Bristy. The two victims were reported missing earlier this month after failing to return home. Investigators later discovered Limon’s body last Friday. A second body was found Sunday, though officials have not yet publicly confirmed whether it is Bristy.
