TAMPA, Fla. – A middle-of-the-night car crash shut down a Tampa roadway early Thursday morning after a driver slammed into a power pole and briefly ran away from the scene.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident happened around 2:20 AM on May 21, 2026. A 33-year-old woman from Tampa was driving a Jeep Renegade westbound on US-41, which is also known as the 22nd Street Causeway.
State troopers reported that the driver lost control of the Jeep near Sagasta Street. The vehicle left the road and hit a wooden utility pole at the northwest corner of the intersection.
