CLEVELAND (WJW) — A new film revisiting one of Cleveland’s most infamous unsolved crime sprees is set to premiere, bringing the story of the “Cleveland torso murders” back to the big screen nearly a century later.
“Kingsbury Run” focuses on the investigation led by Eliot Ness into the killings attributed to the so-called “Mad Butcher of Kingsbury Run,” a case that remains one of the most notorious unsolved crimes in U.S. history. The crimes happened between 1934 and 1938.

The film, which began production in Cleveland in June 2025, follows Ness and Cleveland Police detectives as they race to identify a killer responsible for a series of brutal murders that left at least 13 victims scattered across an area stretching from the Flats to the city’s east side. Many of the victims were never identified.
