UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio — The home-based Zichron Ashher Zelig, or ZAZ shul, was given the go ahead to host daily prayers as City Council approved on Monday (June 15) a number variances that meet city recommendations for its operation.
Council voted 7-0 in favor of the variances for ZAZ, located 4310 University Parkway. The shul had previously received recommendations from the city’s Planning Commission for council to consider.
Council agreed to those recommenadtions, which include limiting assembly in the shul to no more than 150 people at any time; allowing a 25-foot variance on its setback from the street; allowing two sideyard variances; an allowance in letting a house of worship operate on less than three acres; a parking variance to allow for five parking spaces when the code requires 30-150; and a variance permitting four parking spaces in front of the building…
