DeWine commutes sentence of man facing death penalty for 1986 East Cleveland killing

CLEVELAND (WJW) – Governor Mike DeWine has commuted the sentence for a man facing the death penalty for a 1986 East Cleveland killing, his office confirmed.

The commutation from May shows that Gregory Lott will now serve out his life in prison without the possibility of parole, but he no longer faces execution.

Lott was found guilty of aggravated murder, felony murder and aggravated robbery after John McGrath was found dead in his East Cleveland home in the summer of 1986…
