Cuyahoga County moves to increase funding for pro sports venues

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – Cuyahoga County Council moved legislation forward to use sales-and-use tax for Cavaliers, Guardians and Browns stadium renovations.

The Sports Facility Reserve Fund would use a quarter‑percent of sales-and-use tax in Cuyahoga County starting Dec. 1, 2027. Once costs on the new corrections center and courthouse are covered, the funds would be directed to use for the three major sports teams in Cuyahoga County.

Teams could use it for improvements, renovations, repairs, maintenance or construction of a major-league sports facility in Cuyahoga County, or other purposes council deems necessary…
