Another Northeast Ohio institution gone: Ferrara’s closes after 67 years

CLEVELAND (WJW) — The doors are locked and “vacancy” signs are in the windows; for many longtime customers, the closure of Ferrara’s Imported Foods came without warning.

People in the parking lot Wednesday shared with FOX 8 they were disappointed to learn about the closure. A steady stream of vehicles pulled into the parking lot throughout the lunch hour, only for drivers to discover the lights were out.

For nearly seven decades, Ferrara’s was a staple on Mayfield Road.

Founded in 1959 by brothers Alfred and Joe Ferrara, the family-run market became known for bringing a taste of Italy to Northeast Ohio.
