Cleveland crisis nursery damaged by gunfire during ‘street takeover’

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – Cleveland’s Providence House East Campus was damaged by gunfire during a “street takeover” over Fourth of July weekend.

According to a release from Cleveland Police, at around 12:09 a.m. on July 3, officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert reporting shots fired near the 2800 block of East 118th Street.

When officers arrived, they found several spend castings in the area. Luckily, no one was injured.

Continuing their search, officers responded to the Providence House East Campus, located at 11801 Buckeye Road for a report of property damage.

Police said that the investigation determined that a single suspected bullet had struck a window, damaging the window shade and drywall inside the building.

The incident is still under investigation.
