CLEVELAND (WJW) — The Cleveland Division of Fire said a 10-year-old girl is in critical condition after being rescued from a rip current in Lake Erie Tuesday night. Two other young girls were also rescued at Edgewater Beach’s dog beach.

Cleveland Division of Fire Battalion 3 and multiple companies responded to an emergency water rescue shortly after 8:15 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, creating a chaotic scene.
“They were holding hands trying to fight against the current,” Cleveland Division of Fire Lt. Mike Norman said.
Norman said three young girls were swept away by rip currents. Multiple people jumped into action before first responders arrived.
