Lakewood head wrestling coach charged with strangulation in felony domestic violence case

PAINESVILLE, Ohio (WJW) — Lakewood City Schools’ head wrestling coach has been barred from having contact with students or attending school activities while he faces felony domestic violence charges in Lake County.

Kevin M. Claridy, 39, of Concord Township, is facing felony counts of strangulation and domestic violence and misdemeanor counts of assault and illegal restraint, Painesville Municipal Court records show.

Claridy is listed on the school district’s website as the head boys wrestling coach.

A letter from Superintendent Maggie Niedzwiecki to school district families states that after officials learned of Claridy’s Tuesday arraignment, he was ordered not to have contact with students or to be present at school activities “pending the outcome of the legal process.”…
