Siblings Ed and Tami Neiner recently opened Tipsy Tommy’s at 5143 Canal Rd. in Garfield Heights, where they take turns running the American sports bar and restaurant.
They named the restaurant in memory of their late brother, Tommy Neiner. A dedicatory poster in the establishment describes him as “larger than life” and “loud, funny, full of energy and always ready for a good time.” It continued, “Tipsy Tommy’s was built to be loud, fun, welcoming and unforgettable — just like Tommy himself.”
Tami has been in the restaurant business since 2006 when she ran her mother’s restaurant, Charlie’s Dog House Diner. Ed worked there for years before opening and closing two of his own restaurants, Charlie’s 2 and 9er’s Diner & Pub.
He said he stepped back into the business to launch Tipsy Tommy’s with Tami when she learned about a building for lease in a “really good spot.” The building is the former site of the Canal Towpath Bar & Grill…
