CLEVELAND, Ohio — The city of Brooklyn is facing a new lawsuit from a woman who was repeatedly punched by a police officer while restrained.
On Wednesday, Melissa Tyler filed a suit in Cuyahoga County against the city, several Brooklyn police officials and former officer Paul Stein, who was jailed for his role in the 2025 attack earlier this year.
Previously released body camera footage shows Stein punching Tyler while she was restrained during a Sept. 4, 2025 encounter. The suit also accuses Stein of “crushing” her shoeless feet by standing on them with his boots. Tyler had spit in Stein’s face while she was restrained…
