Ryan Day’s son screamed in frustration after a loss — then took an honest look at his performance

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Not long after the final whistle of a 20-17 St. Francis DeSales loss to Villa Angela-St. Joseph on Friday night, DeSales quarterback RJ Day took a moment to himself and then let out a loud scream of frustration.

It hadn’t been 10 minutes before that scream that Day, the oldest of Ohio State football coach Ryan Day’s three kids, made a play that was reminiscent of Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams in the NFL playoffs last season, the play where Williams retreated backward away from defenders before unleashing a touchdown pass to tight end Cole Kmet to tie the game in the playoffs.

Unlike the pass from Williams to Kmet, the pass from Day to his tight end didn’t finish in the end zone…
