Construction has begun for a new apartment complex in the long-vacant Warner & Swasey building in Cleveland’s Midtown neighborhood, and developers are seeking community input on commercial tenants.
The $64 million development is rehabilitating a former manufacturing facility that has been empty since the mid-1980s. During World War II, workers at the giant brick building on Carnegie Avenue near East 55th Street once manufactured parts for planes, ships and tanks. It also previously manufactured telescopes.
