CLEVELAND (WJW) — The man accused of killing Aliza Sherman spoke out in court Wednesday, talking about clearing his name.
This marked the first time we have heard from Gregory Moore. He told the judge that his lead defense attorney withdrawing from his case has caused an extreme hardship on him. He said he is going to try and make a decision in two weeks on who will be representing him but says it is very difficult.
“Because I’m defending my name, I’m defending my son’s name, I’m defending my wife’s name,” Moore told the court. “And my family and everyone who is supporting me.”

Moore’s murder trial was set to begin last week but was postponed after his lead defense attorney, Jon Paul Rion, asked to be removed from the case. Rion would not state the reason. However, motion’s filed in the Eighth District Court of Appeals state Rion asked to be removed because he could now be a witness for the defense.
The motion in appeals court states prosecutors “outrageously slandered” a well-known defense attorney, alleging he may have helped Moore hide a phone prosecutors believe was used to call in bomb threats to local courts years ago…
