CLEVELAND (WJW) — City officials said they can’t determine what caused an explosion that destroyed 44 apartment units at Rainbow Terrace Apartments in June 2025.
Cleveland Division of Public Safety on Monday, Sept. 28, released never-before-seen investigative reports on the fire that killed one person and injured five others, including two children who were badly burned.
“I understand that this conclusion provides no closure or explanation for the loss and suffering endured by the residents, their families, and the broader community,” reads a letter from safety Director Wayne Drummond. “Although the reports involved may not provide the answers many had hoped for, I hope that their release will provide some finality to this stage of the investigation and allow the community to continue the difficult process of healing.”
