European AI Model Shows Highs in the 40s and Freezing Lows for Cleveland, Columbus, and Toledo as First Snowflakes Possible in Ohio Snowbelt

OHIO — A significant blast of colder air could arrive across Ohio next weekend, according to the latest European AI model guidance. Daytime highs on Saturday, October 17, may struggle to reach 40 to 50 degrees across the state. By Sunday morning, October 18, overnight lows could drop into the upper 20s to lower 30s. If enough moisture is available, the first snowflakes of the season could fly across parts of the Northeast Ohio snowbelt.

Saturday Highs Stuck in the 40s

Forecast highs for Saturday show much of Ohio topping out only in the low to upper 40s. Cleveland is forecast near 43 degrees, while Akron is expected around 41.

Columbus and Toledo are forecast near 47 and 45 degrees. Northeast Ohio and northwest Pennsylvania may be even colder, with Ashtabula near 40 and parts of the region in the upper 30s.

Sunday Morning Lows Drop Below Freezing

Overnight lows heading into Sunday morning could drop well below freezing in many areas. Columbus is forecast to fall to around 27 degrees, while Findlay, Lima, and Mansfield are also near 27.

Some of the coldest readings are expected in central Ohio, where Bucyrus, Kenton, Marion, and Delaware could drop to around 26. Toledo is forecast near 32, Akron near 31, and Youngstown near 32.

Communities along the Lake Erie shoreline may stay a bit warmer overnight due to the relatively mild lake waters. Cleveland is forecast to drop to around 38 degrees, with Lorain near 40 and Sandusky near 37…
