Mom indicted in Lakewood Amber Alert, stabbing

CLEVELAND (WJW) — A woman authorities said stabbed the father of her 1-year-old girl and took the child, prompting a dayslong search and statewide Amber Alert , has pleaded not guilty to her indicted charges.

A Cuyahoga County grand jury last week indicted Ariel Monae Walters, 29, of Cleveland, on felony counts including attempted murder and felonious assault and misdemeanor counts of endangering children and domestic violence. She pleaded not guilty on Monday.

Walters is accused of stabbing the man in a Lakewood park on Christmas Eve and taking their daughter, 1-year-old Choice Walters. She surrendered with her attorney to Lakewood police on Dec. 29. The girl was returned safely.

Walters is being held on a $250,000 bond. If released, she’ll be monitored by GPS and won’t be allowed to contact the victims, court records show.
