EAST CLEVELAND , Ohio (WJW) – A dog rescued in East Cleveland has a tale to tell, but for those who saved the pup the whole situation remains a bit of a mystery.

Firefighters were called Sunday afternoon to a vacant home on Elm Avenue for a report of a dog stuck on a roof.

Sure enough, when crews arrived at the vacant home, there was a dog with seemingly no way down.

It’s not clear how exactly the dog managed to get itself into such a predicament. Firefighters speculate the dog may have worked its way through the home, into the attic, and then out a window. But, then couldn’t find its way back.

“It made everybody puzzled,” explained Lt. Jonathan Isaac.

Regardless, thankfully to some alert residents and enterprising firefighters, the dog is back on the ground and safe.
