HURON COUNTY , Ohio (WJW) – Agents from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation arrested 40-year-old Frederick Reer Friday for the murder of Amanda Dean, a mother of four missing since July 2017.
For six-and-a-half years, Dean’s family have been clinging to hope that she would one day return home alive. But the arrest and indictment of Reer confirms their worst fear.

“This is tragic, because there’s a family that’s hurting out there and they’re hurting more because they now know that their loved one is no longer with us,” Cleveland Missing Board President John Majoy said.
Majoy said the family is grieving and processing a tremendous loss, but thanks to investigators for their work to moving the case closer being solved, finding justice.
“There were some tears, there’s some smiles, some hugs and some high fives,” he said. “And so, I’m very happy for the family that they’re getting one step towards closure. I don’t know that they’ll ever have complete closure, but at least they’re getting some answers now, which really is beneficial.”
