Our beloved city of Cleveland is the nation’s fourth-worst “Asthma Capital.” My wife and son have asthma, too. So it is a breath of fresh air that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency just announced a final plan to strengthen the ambient air quality standard for soot pollution (“Tighter standards set for soot pollution,” Feb. 8) The finalized rule reduces the annual standard from 12 to 9 micrograms per cubic meter (μg/m3).
