30 couples tie the knot in Cleveland on Valentine’s Day

CLEVELAND (WJW) – Couples from all over Cleveland wouldn’t wait to show their love for one another, getting married this Valentine’s Day at the Cleveland City Hall Rotunda.

Judge Lauren C. Moore said this is a tradition that dates back to 2009, but it is something that was paused due to the pandemic. Now, the City of Cleveland and municipal court are working to revive it.

“It’s everything,” Moore said. “It’s seeing the happiness. It’s seeing the fact that we are able to fill the need for them. They want to get married on Valentine’s Day and they can do it right here in their own city. I’m pleased to be a part of it.”

Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb officiated the first wedding of the day. He said love united all.

“I’m just excited that they chose to celebrate their new marriage right here at city hall,” Bibb said. “I know it’s a memory that they will never forget.”

In total, 30 couples were married this year on Valentine’s Day, giving each other the gift of a new title for the holiday – husband and wife.
