Body camera video shows arrest of suspect in Amanda Dean’s murder

HURON COUNTY, Ohio (WJW) — Video released to the FOX 8 I-Team shows the arrest of a suspect in the case of a local woman who has been missing for years.

The body camera video from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation shows the moment Frederick Reer was arrested Feb. 9 for the murder of Amanda Dean.

Moments after agents were let into Reer’s home, he asked why there was a warrant for his arrest.

“Why do you think,” an agent answered. “What have we been talking about?”

Reer’s arrest comes almost seven years after officials say he murdered Dean.

Reer said very little during the arrest, but another male relative asked where police were getting information on the case. The agent responded they have been investigating for more than a year.

Dean has been missing since July 2017. Her family has told FOX 8 they have not heard from the mother of four for years.

Huron County Sheriff officials asked BCI to help with the investigation in December 2022.
