Jaylen Brown and the Boston Celtics sent a strong message right away to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the second round. Playing at home Tuesday night, the Celtics clobbered the Cavs, 120-95, thanks in large part to Boston’s stout defense. The Celtics held Cleveland to only 41.1 percent shooting from the floor and just 26.2 percent shooting from deep.
Although the Celtics scored 120 points, Brown seemed prouder of his team’s defense more than anything else that helped them score the win in the series opener.
“Defense, being able to get stops, allows us to play the lifestyle that we want…Just hanging our hat on the defensive end got to be non-negotiable,” said Brown after the win over the Knicks (h/t Jared Weiss of The Athletic).
Their Defense has been a major reason why the Celtics are dominating in the postseason.
