WATCH: Video shows two planes clip wings at Hopkins airport

CLEVELAND (WJW) — Video released to the FOX 8 I-Team shows what happened at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport as two planes got into an accident, clipping wings.

It happened in May, but the Airport video has just been released to FOX 8, and the incident is still under investigation.

In the video, you see a Delta jet moving in toward a gate at the terminal. As that plane tries to squeeze past a Spirit Airlines jet already parked, a wing of the Delta jet clips the other plane.

“Aircraft are not designed to bump into each other like that,” said Robert Katz, a commercial pilot and flight instructor.

Nobody was hurt in the incident, but Delta said the collision caused damage to a wingtip.

Katz said an incident like this calls for a thorough inspection of the planes.

“Examine all the component parts that could have been impacted, directly, and also indirectly. Their function, their reliability, their performance can all be compromised. Everything on an airplane serves a purpose,” he added.
