Cowboys at Browns: Is Dak Prescott New Contract Deadline A Distraction?

FRISCO, Texas – Both the Dallas Cowboys and quarterback Dak Prescott set themselves a sort of “soft deadline” to have his contract extension done “before the start of the season” … maybe “or else.”

Well, as we write this, it is Saturday. The Cowboys are working out here at their facility at The Star before boarding their midday charter flight to Cleveland.

The clock is ticking. And maybe a distraction awaits.

This can get done on Sunday or next week or next month … even though all involved have suggested that once the seasons starts, all “focus” will be on the games themselves, including of course this Week 1 opener on Sunday afternoon.

If he’s not done before March 2025? Dak becomes a free agent. So, what’s the latest on Dak’s contract status?

Appearing on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas, Cowboys COO Stephen Jones stated that the team has had “productive visits and talks” and will continue to work on getting something done. … something along the lines of making Dak the highest-paid player in NFL history, likely in excess of $55 million APY.
