Guardians clinch American League Central Division Title

ST. LOUIS, Missouri (WKBN) – The Cleveland Guardians have officially clinched the American League Central Division title.

It is the Guardians’ second division title in the last three years and the fifth since 2016.

In addition, it is the 12th Central Division title in franchise history (1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2001, 2007, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2022, 2024). The division was formed in 1994.

Cleveland entered the day needing a win or a Kansas City loss to secure the division crown.

The Royals fell to the San Francisco Giants, 9-0, on Saturday evening.

Cleveland last won a World Series Championship in 1948. The World Series drought is the longest active among all 30 current Major League teams.
