Harding rebounds to post shutout of Solon

SOLON, Ohio (WKBN) – Twenty-one years ago, Harding eliminated Solon from the 2003 Division 1 playoffs (49-7). Fast forward to the present after dropping their Week 5 game to Ursuline, the Raiders roared back to earn their fourth win of the year, 24-0.

Just into the second quarter, Stephen Sims went in for the game’s initial score, untouched from a one-yard run for six points (7-0).

At the end of the third quarter, on a bad snap on a punt attempt by Solon deep in its territory, Amiere Cobb jumped on the loose ball in the end zone for a touchdown.

Jaron Edmonds added on a field goal late to finish the Raiders’ scoring.

Following an onside kick by Harding, sophomore James Jones tossed a 42-yard touchdown pass to Chaz Coleman, who sliced through the defensive backfield and into the endzone to open up a three-touchdown lead.

After starting the year with a 2-1 record, the Comets have lost their last three matchups.

Next week, Harding will square off against another rival as the Raiders will travel to Boardman on Friday. Solon will hit the road also to meet Twinsburg.
