Students ‘shocked’ after CWRU campus vandalized with anti-Semitic graffiti

CLEVELAND (WJW) – Restoration crews hired by Case Western Reserve University spent the day cleaning up graffiti and other acts of vandalism that were committed on the school’s Cleveland campus under the cover of darkness early Friday morning.

Many students first learned about the damage that was done on social media, and then discovered that parts of the campus were closed off as the clean-up effort got underway.

“I was kind of shocked and I did not know how to react at that moment,” said CWRU graduate student Prajwal K B.

A video submitted to Cleveland Jewish News shows how the vandals targeted buildings and common spaces around the campus and used red spray paint to scrawl graffiti on walls, windows and tables.

The university says some of the vandalism included anti-Semitic language and symbols on posters glued to windows and doors.

It comes six months after a major protest on campus of the war in Gaza and the university’s investments in Israel.
