Given their variant calendars, it’s not every year that Christmas and the start of Hanukkah are on the same day. But today is one of those days. And it’s a useful reminder of the human bonds that extend far beyond religion that bind us as families, communities, countries and even, yes, as political or national factions at odds and even sometimes at war.
