CLEVELAND (WJW) – Another round of winter weather is on the way. Select weather alerts will take effect Wednesday morning where significant snowfall is possible.
Once again, the Ohio Department of Transportation is getting ready to clear the roads.
Area campaign aims to keep drunk drivers off the road this holiday season
“Starting here tonight, New Year’s Eve through the rest of the week, primarily, it’ll be a snow belt storm,” ODOT District 12 Public Information Officer Brent Kovacs said.
With rain preceding the snowfall, roads could become hazardous and messy. Combining winter weather with a holiday known to produce more impaired drivers could be a recipe for increased accidents.
“This is going to be rain to snow,” Kovacs said. “So, it’s really going to depend on what time you’re driving if you get rain or if you get snow overnight tonight. So please use common sense. Don’t drink and drive. Slow down, make sure you have a designated driver or use a rideshare program.”
ODOT will have 250 plow trucks working in 12 hours shift rotations through the weekend, Kovacs said. ODOT is also counting on motorists to help do their part by being responsible.
