I TEAM: Watch-Nearly a half-hour wait for Cleveland Police to get to bad crash downtown

CLEVELAND (WJW) — The FOX 8 I-Team has found Cleveland Police took nearly half an hour to get officers to a bad crash involving 5 cars downtown.

Video from the scene reveals desperation waiting for police.

It happened after midnight on Dec. 22 downtown on St. Clair between West 3 rd and West 6 th .

Police video shows Strongsville police officers had just left the county jail. Then they heard a crash, so they turned around.

They quickly helped with first aid and detained a suspected drunk driver.

But remember, they rolled up on a Cleveland crime scene.

We obtained Strongsville dash camera and body camera video through a records request.

You hear an officer say “The street’s completely blocked off. There’s cars everywhere.”

And as the Strongsville officers investigate, you also hear them wondering why they aren’t seeing Cleveland Police.

“This is absolutely ridiculous. We have 5 cars…Cleveland hasn’t shown up… You got at least 3 people hurt,” you hear one officer say, along with “What is going on? This is like a scene in a different country.”
