The Portage County NAACP ‘s annual Martin Luther King Jr. Prayer Breakfast on Saturday was a celebration of America’s growth, and the keynote speaker reminded attendees of their responsibilities for the future.
The breakfast event at Kent United Church of Christ featured Lawrence “Mac” Cunningham as guest speaker. Cunningham, who took office last year as mayor of Windham, is the first Black person to be elected mayor in Portage County.
Cunningham said Saturday that he was “deeply reminded of the shoulders upon which I stand and the responsibility I carry for those who will come after me.”…
