“You cannot deprive people of their liberty without probable cause”: but Cleveland cops do

In a shocking revelation on “Today in Ohio,” cleveland.com’s news podcast, listeners learned about a disturbing practice that’s been happening right under our noses: the Cleveland Police Department routinely arrests people without charging them with crimes, which can devastates lives.

“Last year, Cleveland Police arrested nearly 7,000 people and booked them into the Cuyahoga County Jail. And of those more than a thousand people, about one in seven were never charged with a crime,” Leila Atassi said on the podcast.
