CLEVELAND (WJW) — Authorities are investigating after an officer-involved shooting left a suspect dead outside the Staples on West 117th Street in Cleveland on Wednesday afternoon.
The officer-involved shooting, first reported by the FOX 8 I-Team , happened around 4:30 p.m. while officers with a Homeland Security Investigations and Ohio Organized Crime Investigations Commission task force were conducting a narcotics investigation.
According to Cleveland police, a preliminary investigation revealed that the task force “encountered a suspect who produced a knife, prompting two officers to discharge their service weapons.”
The suspect, a man whose identity hasn’t been released, was pronounced dead. A medical examiner van later responded to the scene.
