Meijer to open May 8 in Richmond Heights

Ahead of its grand opening, Meijer officials invited local students and city officials to tour the 159,000-square-foot supercenter in Richmond Heights on May 1.

The store at 5155 Wilson Mills Road is part of the Belle Oaks development on the site of the former Richmond Mall, which opened in September 1966 as one of the first malls in the Cleveland area, and later became Richmond Town Square.

“This means a lot to me because my daughters grew up in this area and I used to take them to the Richmond Mall, so to see this being revitalized and us being a part of that is just really powerful and I’m really excited for this,” Marcie Mathis, store director and a Cleveland Heights resident, told the Cleveland Jewish News.

Mathis, alongside store leadership, presented a $10,000 check to the Richmond Heights Education Foundation. The money will go toward the nonprofit’s purpose to provide supplemental funding to the Richmond Heights School District, which serves about 750 students…
